Here’s why La Liga’s female referees are currently on a strike

strike
Spain’s female referees have called for a strike as they demand better pay and working conditions, putting in danger the start of the domestic women’s league. After speaking to the Spanish FA, to increase their economic well-being and about the behavioral changes that are required.
The referees issued a statement late Thursday saying they had “taken the decision to not work any matches of the women’s first division under the present working and economic conditions.” The female referees clearly don’t get paid enough to be running around the ground like an average player.
However, the female referees after their wish presented to La Liga, haven’t shown up and the answer to their problems has also not been fully resolved, which has created an issue in finding what would the league do without them.

Do female referees deserve equal pay in La Liga’s women’s football

The women’s league responded in a statement issued to local media by saying that it had presented a plan to the Spain football federation to increase their salaries but has yet to receive a reply.
The league added that if the referees did not show up for work they would face “legal and disciplinary action.” Which could force the referees to either come back or leave once and for all, though creating a huge fuss but the league can manage it.
The spat comes days after assistant referee Guadalupe Porras became the first Spanish woman to work a men’s Champions League match: Napoli’s 4-1 win over Liverpool on Wednesday. Hopefully, but not sure their pay must increase with time.
