“He’s not used to hearing negativity” – Arsenal legend advises therapy for Cristiano Ronaldo after explosive interview against Manchester United
Ian Wright has advised Cristiano Ronaldo to get counselling in order to deal with the newfound criticism he is encountering as his Manchester United career appears to be reaching a dramatic conclusion. The legendary Arsenal player added that it was “sad” to witness how one of the best players in game history was handling the final years of an unbelievable career at the top, with an outrageous 2022–23 season coming to a head in a recent interview.
In a now well-publicized interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo confessed feeling “betrayed” by United, openly expressed his disgust for his boss, said Gary Neville was exploiting him for “fame,” and criticized the previous manager Ralf Rangnick.
“It’s quite sad to see when you consider what Cristiano Ronaldo has done and what he’s achieved in his career,” Wright said on The Kelly and Wrighty Show. “For him not to be able to deal with his career coming to an end – it happens to all of us, it happened to me – you do feel a sense of “is that it?”
“He’s not used to hearing negativity but now it is coming to him. It must be difficult for him and something he may need to seek counselling for.” The 37-year-old has unsurprisingly received harsh criticism for his antics from pundits like Jamie Carragher and Neville, both of whom he afterward blanked on live air.
“I find that petty,” Wright added. “I was quite uncomfortable watching what he did to Jamie Carragher. When I watch Carragher’s summary of the situation, it’s not a million miles off. All of the stuff he said – about Ronaldo’s age and profile – has come to be. No pundit is going out there just to dig players out, it’s not personal.”

Manchester United players expect Cristiano Ronaldo long gone before Premier League resumes after the World Cup
Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiery comments criticizing the team and manager Erik ten Hag has the Manchester United players not wanting him to join the team again. According to insiders, Ronaldo’s teammates at United do not anticipate seeing him again after the World Cup because they have grown tired of his complaining and moaning over his alleged mistreatment.
The bulk of United’s team agrees with their boss that the Portugal international cannot return because of his criticism of Ten Hag and his assertions that someone tried to evict him against his will. Ronaldo was penalised by being left out of United’s squad for their Premier League trip to Chelsea last month. According to Ten Hag, he had to act against such arrogance to maintain discipline within his team.
