“He’s really good at Fornite”- Mesut Ozil’s agent hints the former Arsenal player is destined for an eSports career after his stint at football
Mesut Ozil still has two years left on his contract with Turkish side Fenerbahce but has been tipped to move into the world of professional esports when he retires.
According to the agent of former Arsenal star, when he retires from football, he plans to pursue a career in eSports. The veteran attacking midfielder has been frozen out at his current club Fenerbahce, with questions lingering about his future with the Super Lig outfit.
Quite where the 33-year-old will head next after several unhappy seasons, stretching back to the end of his tenure with the Gunners, remains up in the air but according to agent Dr. Erkut Sogut, there may be a place for Ozil to go professional in the world of eSports instead.
“He will go more into eSports, play himself and maybe become an eSports athlete,” Sogut claimed of his client in an interview.
“He’s really good, to be honest, at Fortnite and I think one day I wouldn’t be surprised if he is competing. He owns a team, M10 Esports and he has players. He has a gaming house in Germany. He has football, like FIFA, and Fortnite.” He added.
Sogut also said Mesut Ozil would probably retire after his stint with Fenerbahce comes to an end and is not looking to join any other club in the near future. “I think he will not play football in any other club anymore, I can’t see that, it will be Fenerbahce and that’s it,” he reported.
Mesut Ozil’s agent also shed light on whether his client regrets leaving Arsenal
The former World Cup winner’s eight-year tenure at the Emirates Stadium came to an end after he was dropped from the senior squad due to both his proactive political stance and reports that he was unfocused on club commitments.
However, according to Sogut, the player has no regrets. “No, not at all. He loved his time at Arsenal but it didn’t end as you would wish as a player. It happens to so many players. (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang had to leave as well. This is football and it’s business as well. People come and go in your club” he said explaining the situation.
