Gareth Bale
Over the last two decades, one of the most popular debates has been the one between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The duo has dominated football since the beginning of their careers and people still scratch their heads when asked to choose between the two. Cristiano Ronaldo’s former teammate, Gareth Bale was asked a similar question last year and his answer was no surprise at all.
Gareth Bale chose his former Real Madrid teammate over the Argentine maestro. Bale said, “For me personally I’d say, Ronaldo. He’s strong, he’s powerful, he’s pacey, he can head the ball, strike the ball. Obviously, you can’t say anything bad about Messi but for the all-around complete football player, I’d say Ronaldo.”

Gareth Bale and Ronaldo 4 Champions League in 5 years together
Gareth Bale along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema formed the legendary BBC trio that dominated both La Liga and the Champions League. They also created history together winning the Champions League 3 consecutive times from 2015 to 2018. Although Bale didn’t end his Real Madrid career as he would like, his best years at the club were with his teammate, Ronaldo.
Aside from the 4 Champions League titles together, they also won 4 Club World Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 1 La Liga title, 1 Copa del Rey, and 1 Spanish Super Cup.
The left-footed winger is undoubtedly one of Real Madrid’s best players of this decade. In almost 260 games for the club, Gareth Bale scored 106 goals and assisted another 67.
A feat more than the likes of Zidane, David Beckham, Ronaldo Nazario, and more. Not to mention, his heroics in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, his goals in the Champions League finals against Atletico Madrid, and of course the bicycle kick against Liverpool.
