According to a Marca story, each Real Madrid player received a staggering €900,000 in bonuses for the team’s three trophies in the 2021–22 campaign. Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup, the Champions League trophy, and La Liga during the 2021–22 season.
According to the aforementioned source, Madrid lavishly rewarded its first-team members for their achievements last season by giving them incentives of €900,000 gross (about €450,000 net).
Real Madrid players agreed to forgo any potential prize money and accept a 20% salary cut at the start of the year in 2020. No player won bonuses as a result of Los Blancos winning La Liga in the 2019–20 season.
Bonuses were not available to the players as a result of the team’s failure to bring home any silverware for the 2020–21 campaign. They recovered to win accolades last season, ensuring a huge salary for the players. Although the €900,000 gross amount might appear excessive, it is still far below the level of bonuses received prior to the pandemic.
Each Madrid player reportedly received €1.5 million after their La Liga-Champions League double in the 2016–17 campaign. Each first-team player received about €700,000 at the conclusion of the 2015–16 season thanks to their victorious Champions League campaign. Los Merengues defeated Liverpool in the 2017–18 Champions League final, and as a result, each player earned a staggering €600,000 extra.
