Manchester United secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against Leeds United on Sunday in the premier league. Inform attacker Marcus Rashford scored the first goal, before second-half substitute Alejandro Garnacho sealed the deal in the final minutes of the game. Bruno Fernandes shared his appreciation for the team on Instagram, while having a hilarious dig at teammate Garnacho. He posted a picture with him playfully kicking Garnacho while they were celebrating the second goal. Garnacho later shared the post on his story, replying he ‘deserved’ it.

“You know you deserve this kick,” Fernandes wrote in his caption, tagging Alejandro Garnacho in the post. The Manchester United captain supported Garnacho after he received criticism for his lack of goals recently. Alejandro Garnacho however, has played a huge role in United’s recent victories, providing an assist in the derby victory over Manchester City in January 2023. He also helped secure the winning goal against Crystal Palace on February 4.

Replying to Bruno’s funny caption about the kick, Garnacho shared the post on his Instagram story, “I admit that I deserved it,” written below Bruno’s post. After several games without scoring, Garnacho finally managed to hit the back of the net, in the closely fought encounter against Leeds.

Manchester United closed the gap between the second-placed team and city rivals Manchester City to just 2 points after their latest victory. United defeated Leeds in their last premier league match on Sunday. The frontman has scored 21 goals in all competition this season, bettered by only a certain Erling Haaland. His previous record for most goals in a single season is 22, and he is on the road to shattering his all-time best record. Rashford has rejuvenated under the management of Eric Ten Hag. The 25-year-old has not only silenced his critics after a poor 21/22 season, but he has also realised the promise he showed when he first burst into the scenes.

Leeds held the Red Devils back and there were very few chances for United up until the 80th minute of the game when Rashford scored an accurate header from an impeccable cross by Luke Shaw. Rashford overtook United legend Eric Cantona’s record in the Premier League of 70 goals, and has 71 goals to his name.

Bruno Fernandes is also enjoying Rashford’s amazing form with United this season, as he took to Instagram to appreciate England forward. Posting a picture of himself and Rashford celebrating, Bruno wrote, “You just can’t stop scoring and you love it.” Manchester United face Barcelona in the Europa League on February 16, and Rashford will be hungry to score against the Spanish Giants.
