“I felt for Scott Parker”- Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp highlights importance of ‘right owners’ in football after Bournemouth sacks coach

Three days after Bournemouth‘s humiliating 9-0 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League, Scott Parker was fired as the Cherries’ manager on Tuesday morning.
Following Scott Parker’s dismissal on Tuesday morning, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ripped into the Bournemouth management and gave Scott Parker a message of sympathy.
Speaking at his press conference on Tuesday, Klopp said: “When I heard today I realised how important it is in this moment to have the right owners at the football club. Some clubs are owned by countries but others have a structure like us and maybe Arsenal. Then three teams who came up, Nottingham are spending, Fulham is and I can’t remember Bournemouth doing a lot, which is difficult for a coach. I felt for Scott.”
In his first season in command, Parker guided the Cherries to promotion to the Premier League, but he was fired after three straight losses in the top division. On the first weekend, Bournemouth overcame Aston Villa but fell to Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool by a combined score of 16-0.
The 9-0 humiliation suffered at Anfield on Saturday was particularly upsetting, and Vitality Stadium officials responded early in the season in an effort to keep their Premier League position. Klopp, who disagreed with the choice, charged Bournemouth’s owners with failing to provide Parker with the necessary financial support during the summer transfer window.
He said: “I am not careful, we get told what is possible and what isn’t. That’s it. In this range we try to work it. There’s no criticism, we became champions in a season when we didn’t sign anyone. We have an existing team as well. All the players we have here we want to be here. I want to develop the club, the squad and be successful.”
Klopp added: “Let me say it like this, from time to time, I would like to risk a bit more [in the market] but I don’t decide that. We have a great team and we will really try to squeeze everything out of this season.”

Not a good start for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp said that Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against newly promoted Fulham felt like a loss for the Premier League runners-up from the previous campaign. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice, but Mohamed Salah’s late goal helped cancel them out. Darwin Nunez had earlier tied the score for the Reds after Fulham’s first goal.
“We started exactly the opposite way than we wanted,” the Liverpool boss said.
“We are used to more dominance and we couldn’t get that because we played just not good enough, not quick enough, not precise enough, all these kind of things.
“I’m really fine with the point. I know we could have won the game – that wouldn’t have made our performance a little bit better, but we could have.
“I’m happy for the punishment we got with losing two points. I know we can see that differently – for [Fulham] I’d say as well they lost two points.”
As Liverpool first struggled to get going and string passes together before being caught on the break, the warning flags were there for Klopp. Even if they became more competitive, the Reds’ performance was far from composed. I feel much more responsible for defeats than when we win, so that’s unfortunate,” Klopp added.
