“I have not failed as Barcelona manager”- Ronald Koeman takes dig at fans thrashing him all over social media
Ronald Koeman
Ronald Koeman has spoken out about being fired as Barcelona’s manager and insists he hasn’t failed in that role. The former manager of the Catalan club claims that Xavi Hernandez, who has subsequently taken his place, has given him more time to demonstrate his abilities.
The disastrous management tenure of Ronald Koeman at Barcelona began with the 2020–21 campaign. Koeman faced an uphill battle to inspire the team as the Blaugrana were still reeling from their catastrophic 2019–20 season, which featured an 8–2 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
Barcelona found it difficult to stay in the title race last season, and their Champions League run was hardly noteworthy. However, there was a small silver lining in that Barcelona won the Copa del Rey after defeating Athletic Bilbao 4-0 in the championship. In a recent interview Koeman said: “I have not failed as Barça manager. I even won a trophy through all the circumstances.”
Barcelona fired Ronald Koeman for these five reasons
One of the wrongdoings committed by the Josep Maria Bartomeu administration was the hiring of Ronald Koeman. After winning the presidential election earlier this year, Joan Laporta attempted to oust the strategist, demonstrating his dissatisfaction with the Dutchman’s presence. A typical Barcelona manager should be tactically astute, use an alluring and attacking style of play, and exhibit a strong winning attitude.
On those fronts, Koeman has fallen short. At the Camp Nou, he has switched to a more defensive posture, and his squad is playing without a clear identity or a burning desire to win. He clearly doesn’t belong with the Catalan titans.
Ronald Koeman’s treatment of his players is quite concerning. The coach has been at Camp Nou for just over a year, but he already has a long history of not treating his players with enough respect. For instance, no one is certain why Riqui Puig, who is unquestionably one of the team’s brightest young players, has received so little opportunity to shine. After leaving the club, Miralem Pjanic and Luis Suarez both complained about Koeman’s mistreatment. It makes sense why the Dutch coach is unable to maximize the potential of his players.
