“I want to show them I’m one of them”- Casemiro expresses desire to learn English to understand Manchester United’s culture better

Prior to Monday’s victory over Liverpool, when he was introduced to the Old Trafford crowd just before kickoff, the 30-year-old sat down with journalist Andy Mitten. He talks about his feelings upon arriving at Old Trafford, his prior trip to the Theatre of Dreams, adjusting to life in the Premier League, and a whole lot more.
Casemiro stated “Yes, my wife speaks English. I have a seven-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. So they speak a bit better English than me. I’m truly sorry to you and all of the United fans that I don’t speak English, but I want to study, I want to learn as soon as possible so that I can learn about English culture, learn English and speak to my friends, my team-mates, all the club staff and I want to show them I’m one of them.”
In the interview, Casemiro added the following:
When Casemiro was asked that is playing in the Premier League exciting for him, he answered that it was definitely exciting for him. The Premier League was a dream to play in. It was a wonderful league. There is a respect that fans have for players, the players have for fans, the players with the referees, the referees with the players. He also added when one goes from the airport to the city, he can feel that the city has football in the air and the stadium also speaks for itself. He felt that the ground breathes football and he was delighted to be there.
Casemiro said that it is the biggest club in England. It’s the club with the most amount of titles. So, he is really happy and just can’t wait to get going. He told that from the very first moment the Manchester United directors had been great with him and that’s what he needed. They showed him a lot of affection and he wanted to show, as soon as possible, in training in games… Because of this affection they’ve shown towards him, by signing him… that’s why he wanted to get going now. He can’t wait to start.
