“I would do a scan of my brain (if I woke up as Cristiano Ronaldo) and see where all that mental strength comes from”- Virat Kohli after hailing the Portuguese star as his favorite athlete
Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo
Virat Kohli has always been a fitness freak. He has revolutionised the fitness standards of the Indian National Team to extremely high lengths. It is a well-known fact that Indian captain Virat Kohli is a die-hard fan of Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
Interestingly, the former Indian skipper has expressed his respect for Ronaldo and his hard work ethic on multiple occasions.
Virat Kohli hails Cristiano Ronaldo as his favorite athlete
One such example of this was seen when he recently talked to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Behind the Scenes segment on their Youtube channel. He was asked a variety of questions, ranging from his favourite TV series to his favourite athlete.
When asked about his “favourite athlete” and what he would do if he woke up as him/her for one day, he replied,“ Cristiano Ronaldo!“
“I would do a scan of my brain (if I woke up as Ronaldo) and see where all that mental strength comes from,” Kohli joked via RCB’s YT channel.
Another example of this was seen back in 2021. Virat was talking to Dinesh Karthik who had then been contracted by the British sports channel for the coverage of the India-England Test series when he said that he admired Ronaldo because of his work ethic which separates him from the rest.
Virat has also previously stated that he admires Ronaldo’s enthusiasm and determination for the game, as well as his ability to block unwanted noise from the outside.
Another example of Virat Kohli’s respect for Cristiano Ronaldo
While speaking to former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen back in 2019, the Delhi-born batsman has stated that while he admires Argentine striker Lionel Messi as well, Ronaldo’s effort and hunger sets him apart from the rest. It is clear why he admires him so much.
Virat also plays with the same passion and vigour till the final ball of the game is delivered, and it shows in his approach and demeanour. During the candid interview for RCB’s channel, he also spoke about his heartbreaking and most memorable moments of his life at RCB.
“IPL final 2016 and that same year, 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final at Wankhede against West Indies,” Virat said recalling the heartbreaking moments.
The video also featured India pacer Mohammed Siraj and skipper Faf du Plessis who picked Ronaldo and Roger Federer respectively as their favourite athletes.
RCB are set to take on Rajasthan Royals in their third match of the season on Tuesday.
