“If I see a player stronger than me…”- Zlatan Ibrahimovic rubs off any near retirement plans

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic apparently only works out once a week and has a chronic knee ailment, raising the possibility that he will hang up his boots.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played 988 minutes overall and just 11 starts in Serie A this year, yet he has still scored eight goals and assisted three others. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the Milan management will reportedly meet at the end of the season to discuss a potential one-year extension, but the player will reportedly have to accept a significant pay drop from the €7 million he presently makes every season.

When sources asked him that when he will retire, he said “If i see a player stronger than me, I will be ready to retire. But I haven’t seen any player stronger than me.”

Ibrahimovic has previously said to sources– “I decide when to stop, just like I decide that the yellow ball will hit you” he said in a YouTube video last week, before launching a yellow football at the camera lens – and has previously stated he will only hang up his boots “when I see someone better than me.”

But with two games left, AC Milan leads Inter by two points in the battle for the Scudetto, so he might decide to end the season on a high note. Even if Ibrahimovic decides to hang up his boots, it might not mean the end of his career at San Siro because it appears probable that Milan will offer him a coaching position so he can continue to contribute to Stefano Pioli’s developing team from the practise fields.
