“If it happens, it will be for the best”- Former PSG teammate Thiago Silva wants Neymar to join Chelsea this season
Since PSG is apparently willing to let him leave, Thiago Silva wants his countryman Neymar to accompany him at Chelsea during this transfer window.
The world transfer record was broken when Neymar joined PSG in the summer of 2017 after the French powerhouses met his incredible €222 million release clause. Barcelona was upset because they had just lost one of the finest players in the history of the game to a Ligue 1 powerhouse.
According to PSG, Neymar was brought in to help the squad advance in the Champions League and win the coveted Cup. However, neither the Brazilian nor PSG have met their expectations in terms of performance.
Neymar to Chelsea, a serious possibility?
Kylian Mbappe, who progressively surpassed the Brazilian as PSG’s most desirable player, has eclipsed the 30-year-old. Since Neymar is at a career crossroads, the introduction of Lionel Messi last summer also took the shine off his presence.
Neymar is supposedly wanted by PSG to leave this transfer season, and Chelsea and Newcastle United in the Premier League are apparently interested. Although the attraction hasn’t been formalized, there are rumors that a shift may happen.
Thiago Silva, a seasoned Brazilian center-back, has pushed Neymar to join him at Chelsea. The ex-PSG captain maintained that he expects a transfer happens this summer in comments that were published by Sports Witness through JC.
Silva stated, “He has to go to Chelsea. If it happens, it will be for the best. He needs no comments. So far, I don’t know anything, but I hope it comes to fruition”.
The new owners of Chelsea are willing to support manager Thomas Tuchel, therefore the club’s supporters might dream of such a signing. Raheem Sterling is wanted by the Blues from Manchester City, and if both deals go through, the public might see a fantastic front three.
A move for Neymar may still be a fantasy for Silva and the supporters, though, given that Chelsea has just put themselves in the driver’s seat for Leeds United sensation Raphinha.
In either case, the supporters of Stamford Bridge may anticipate the arrival of talented attackers who will turn their side back into a real contender.
