Ibra posted the trailer on social media and revealed he will be portraying Antivirus, a Roman soldier who fends off all foes. In an interview for the JDD, director Guillaume Canet had already revealed what the role of the Swedish striker would be in this blockbuster which is not inspired by any existing comic book. 

He said: “It’s Caesar’s favorite centurion, he explained. Initially, it was called Abribus. But we renamed it Antivirus because we are waiting for it and it is slow to arrive, like the vaccine!” The one who will play the role of Asterix also told how the idea of ​​having Zlatan Ibrahimovic play in this film came to him: “It’s the idea of ​​Yohan Baiada, the co-producer. We were looking for someone with presence and arrogance. I managed to contact him. It made him laugh. And on top of that, he did taekwondo!”

The Swedish player, who will turn 41 next month, played for Paris Saint-Germain for four years in France and has had stints with Inter Milan, Barcelona and Manchester United.

The footballer was among the first to release these exclusive photos of the eagerly anticipated movie, commenting “Vive la France,” so it appears that he likes the concept. Jonathan Cohen, Ramzy Bédia, Guillaume Canet, Gilles Lelouche, or José Garcia will perform alongside Zlatan in the ensemble. Along with the AC Milan striker, additional guests include Angèle the singer, McFly and Carlito from YouTube, and Orelsan the rapper.

Great athletes have already made appearances in Asterix movies. Before the Swede’s appearance in the trilogy, Asterix at the Olympic Games, which was released in 2008, featured notable appearances by Michael Schumacher, Zinedine Zidane, Tony Parker, and even Amelie Mauresmo.
