Liverpool are confidently soaring into the business end of the season. The Reds have the opportunity to grab their first silverware of the season in what is shaping up to be Jurgen Klopp‘s last season in the dugout. The Carabao Cup final against Chelsea is set to be played at Wembley Stadium today (Sunday), at 3:00 pm GMT. While either side has significant absentees due to injury, Liverpool’s list is also set to include owner John Henry.
Over the last few weeks, Liverpool have accumulated quite the injury list. With over 8 players out with injury and another three doubtful, Jurgen Klopp has a significant task at hand. While Liverpool’s quadruple charge remains intact till now, the Reds will have to prove it on Sunday evening. That being said, fans are surprised that even club owner John Henry will miss the final.
Fenway Sports Group leader John W. Henry and his wife Linda Pizzuti were in attendance for the 2022 Carabao Cup final when Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties. However, both Henry and his wife are set to miss the rematch as various representatives from across the board will meet to evaluate the performance of their numerous investments such as Liverpool, the Boston Red Sox, and their NASCAR team RFK Racing.
However, Liverpool and FSG Chairman Tom Werner is set to make an appearance for the final.
Fans laugh at Liverpool; claim FSG owner also picked up an ‘injury’
Liverpool have seemingly come under a curse of injuries. From Trent Alexander-Arnold to Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, the Reds will be missing several crucial players against Chelsea in the final. However, when it was known that FSG boss John Henry will also miss the game, fans couldn’t hold back their laughter.
A fan said that Liverpool have to sign Sheikh Jassim to replace their owner for the showdown. Another jokingly added that the club should start Billy Hogan, the Liverpool CEO for the final. Some fans made fun of Liverpool, claiming that even their owner couldn’t find the time to attend their final. Another said that he got busy in training and preferred to play tennis instead of watching a football game.
Some jokingly asked for his spare ticket so that they could go to the final instead. While Liverpool are currently in pole position to lift the Premier League, they will have significant pressure from defending champions Manchester City and Arsenal. The men from Anfield will be feeling confident to grab their first title of the season, and looking back at their history in the competition, they have every right to do so.
