Lionel Messi‘s son, Thiago Messi has joined Inter Miami’s football academy. The 10-year-old will now be following in his father’s footsteps as he now represents Messi at the lower levels.

Thiago, who was previously a part of FCB Escola, Barcelona’s academy, will now join his father at Inter Miami at the U-12 setup. Messi told MundoDeportivo 4 years ago that Thiago wants to be a football player when he grows up. Messi, however, was more concerned with his son enjoying the game rather than playing it professionally.

Thiago Messi has already made a small name for himself with his clips popping up on YouTube. A recent clip of him playing with his brother in an Inter Miami jersey was circulated online 2 weeks ago. Thiago showed his brother no mercy as he slid in and tackled his younger brother to the ground, completely missing the ball. One of the more iconic videos of Thiago is him bringing his father the 6th Ballon d’Or of his career. Thiago and his two younger brothers were made part of the event which saw Messi presenting the award at Camp Nou. The Ballon d’Or seemed heavy for the child but it must have meant a lot to Messi being handed the award by his sons.

With father-sons footballers not being uncommon such as the Thurams, Kluiverts, and even the Beckhams, fans will be curious to know if Messi’s story as a football player ends with him or continues through his children.

While Thiago makes headlines for his football news. Mateo Messi has made headlines for being a little troll. Lionel Messi publicly came out and told a story of how Mateo would celebrate whenever Real Madrid would score in order to tease Thiago and see if he could provoke his brother.  He also told a light-hearted story of how Mateo is when they all play football together. “I am Liverpool, the team who beat you,” told Messi to the interviewers as they all laughed at his antics.

Fans have also joined in on this joke. The camera pointed at his jubilant family when Messi scored at the WC. Mateo however did not react much. Fans began cracking jokes about how Mateo was supporting the opposition and not his father. In an interview with TyCSports, Messi called his son Thiago a ‘phenomenon’ and Mateo the opposite, ‘Hijo de puta vos’. Translated to English, fans might be shocked to hear what Messi has said. The phrase, however, is used as a term of endearment in Argentina and does not mean the same when translated directly into English

Messi when speaking about his children is always captured smiling. While the two brothers differ in personalities, he loves them both the same and it shows.
