Iranian footballer to face execution for campaigning in favor of women’s rights and freedom: Reports

Iran has been regulating terrible news since the protests for Woman’s rights began. Recently, a footballer who played in Iran’s Premier League and for the national youth team was arrested in November. He was accused of killing an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander. Footage shared by state TV displayed the forced confessions of Mr. Amir Nasr-Azadani and two other suspects. As per reports, the player was an active member in the protests that took place in the area where the murder of the security officer took place.
His family told the independent news agency The National News, that they have been pressured into silence over his arrest and said the man was “nowhere near,” the place where the security officer was allegedly killed. The death sentence “would become final,” if the family dares to speak to foreign media according to a relative of the family. The footballer is now labeled as ‘moharebeh‘ or enmity against God, a charge which eventually converts into a death sentence.
Many athletes and journalists have spoken out against the regime since the outbreak of protests three months ago over the suspicious death of Mahsa Amini in police custody. Almost 500 people have been killed and 18,000 arrested since the protests began. Several citizens have publicly defied the regime. Female athletes have been competing without hijab at international competitions which is against the countriues policies.
Protesters also hailed Iran’s national football team for refusing to sing the Iran national anthem at Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup. The group was forced to backtrack the move amid reports their families had been threatened with torture if players didn’t act as per the government. Hence, the players and management decided to go hand in hand with their country’s regime.

The couple were seemingly scared and were screaming for authorities to listen. The video even shows them requesting the people gathered around to ‘not leave them alone there and also that they cannot trust the authorities anymore’. The couple screamed with fearful stitched voices indicating the armed forces present to protect them were also a part of the group who attacked them.
