This will be the third El-Clasico of the 2022-23 season with Barcelona and Real Madrid winning one-one matches respectively so far. While the Los Blancos thrashed Barcelona in La Liga, the Catalans defeated the Madridistas 3-1 in the final of the 2023 Supercopa final to win their first major title in two years.

The match will take place in Real Madrid’s home stadium, Santiago Bernabeu, and will be the first time after almost 10 years that the two sides will compete in a Copa del Rey match. In their head-to-head battle in the tournament so far, while Barcelona has won 15 matches, Real Madrid has emerged victorious on 12 occasions.

Is Robert Lewandowski playing tonight in Copa del Rey Clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona?

As per multiple reports, Robert Lewandowski suffered a serious blow to his hamstring last Sunday after the match against Almeria which could rule him out of action for at least two weeks. As a result, he won’t be featuring in Barcelona’s clash against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey semifinals due to the hamstring injury, as has been confirmed by Barcelona.

Lewandowski is not even part of Barcelona’s squad that traveled to Real Madrid for the match. In his absence, Ansu Fati or Ferran Torres can begin as strikers for the Catalans on Thursday.

What position does Robert Lewandowski play and how does his numbers in 2022-23 season look like?

Robert Lewandowski starts for Barcelona in the striker position in a conventional 4-3-3 and carries their attack, which consists of the likes of Raphinha, Ferran Torres, or Ansu Fati. The Polish star arrived in Barcelona earlier this season only from German giants, Bayern Munich.

In the 2022-23 season so far, Lewandowski has scored a total of 25 goals and 31 matches, 15 of which have come in La Liga. The Polish superstar has also netted five goals in the Champions League and two in the Europa League. However, after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, things haven’t been the same for him as he has scored just twice for Barcelona in La Liga in 2023.

In a situation like this, Barcelona will certainly miss the services of Lewandowski. However, they will hope to play decent and win if possible at the Santiago Bernabeu to give Lewandowski and the others an advantage when they play the Copa del Rey’s second leg at home.
