“It’s a fresh start”- Marcus Rashford looks forward to regaining his form at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag
Marcus Rashford thinks that Erik ten Hag, the new manager of Manchester United, may help him recover his best form with his “fresh ideas and fresh methods.”
After having shoulder surgery, Rashford had his worst season at United last year, scoring just five goals in 32 games, losing his spot on the England team, and having his self-confidence destroyed. Rashford, 24, however, is convinced that ten Hag, United’s new Dutch manager, can be the spark that the striker needs to return to his very best after a week of preseason training.
According to Rashford, the team has been infused with “new ideas, fresh tactics, and a new personality. He is looking forward to working with him, and he also thinks it’s important that they give themselves time to adjust to ten Hag’s demands and feel completely at ease performing them.
Marcus Rashford is looking forward to working with Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United:
“Those things do take time, but it’s a challenge we’re all looking forward to. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been tough, but we’ve all enjoyed the training sessions and we’re mixing it up as well. We’re not just doing all football and all running, we’re doing a little bit of both, so it’s fun and it’s good signs looking forward.”
“He’s very detailed out on the grass and even in the rules of each game. As I said, it’s all fresh and when something is fresh it’s good for the mind and good for the body.”
“It’s a fresh start for everyone and for me personally I’ve had quite a long break, a nice camp before coming back into training, and how we are starting off on the right foot,” said Rashford.
“Everyone is looking forward to pre-season now and going out to try to put into the games what we have learned in training so far, and what we will continue to learn, not only in the pre-season but throughout the season as well.”
Despite playing through nagging injuries the previous two seasons, he managed to score over 20 goals in each of them. However, he hasn’t been able to maintain that form this year and is expected to finish it with fewer goals than he did in his debut season in 2015-16, when he made his debut in February.
Rashford has scored 93 goals for Manchester United in 302 games since making his debut in that season, although the inconsistent management has frequently limited his opportunities.
In that time, he has played for a number of coaches, including Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Solskjaer, and Rangnick, and now has Ten Hag.
