Todd Boehly took over the club and spent more than $600 million in the transfer window in January. Thiago Silva discusses the most recent winter transfer window. The 38-year-old has been a standout for the team this season, serving as the focal point of the backline.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen something like this in my whole career. This shows the ambition of the club and how much the club wants to win. We had many injury problems this year,” he stated on the club’s official website. He added, “A lot of new players arrived, and that takes time to prepare and get used to. We know we’re not having the best season, but I really believe that the positive thing is if we don’t start well, we can finish well.” Chelsea has signed ten players in the January transfer window.

Thiago Silva’s contract at Chelsea will be extended for another year, according to sources. He is the backbone of Chelsea’s defense line at age of 38. Chelsea will be anxious to sign him for the next season.

“We are talking about it. Probably everything will happen in the next few days. My intention and the club’s intention are the same: to stay together,” Silva stated.“I just laugh at someone who is 38, and gets in a one-on-one with Nunez, who is lightning quick and, ok, might catch half a yard but he doesn’t get away from Thiago Silva, which is extraordinary. Just brilliant defending,” says his manager Graham Potter. Graham Potter has lauded him on several occasions.

He has been the club’s first-choice defender and is now compared to greats such as Paolo Maldini. Benoit Badiashile, a recent addition for Chelsea, and veteran Thiago Silva are yet to concede a goal.
