Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, James Maddison has named his ‘Top 3’ free-kick takers in the Premier League in a Sky Sports video with YouTuber, Billy Wingrove. While not adding the player to the list, Maddison gave a special mention to Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

In a video, James Maddison advised a YouTuber to hit the player’s EAFC 24 card attached to the goal. When asked about favorite free-kick takers in the league, he mentioned Trippier, Trent, and Ward-Prowse, all known for their set-piece skills. Trippier scored an iconic free-kick in the 2018 World Cup, Trent-Alexander Arnold is a set-piece expert for Liverpool, and James Ward-Prowse is renowned in the Premier League for his free-kick prowess.

James Maddison also added his name to the list of the free-kick takers jokingly but complimented his league rivals and fellow English compatriots stating,

They can all hit the ball with so much pace.

Currently in recovery from his injury during Spur’s game against Chelsea, Maddison could not show the fans his free-kick ability during the shoot but the Premier League are aware of his setpiece skills as only James Ward-Prowse has scored more free-kicks than Maddison in the league in the past five years.

James Maddison is sorely missed by the Spurs fans as the player’s recent injury has meant two back-to-back losses for the club in the league.

When will James Maddison be back from injury?

Just before halftime in the London Derby, James Maddison was subbed off for Emerson Royal following an ‘ankle injury’ he sustained during the game. With an injury, he departed and with it, Spur’s winning streak left the stadium.

Ange Postecoglou revealed that the Englishman’s injury was worse than what was expected stating:

He came off with an ankle injury and the next day wasn’t great, so we sent him for a scan. Again probably into the new year for him.

With those words, Maddison is now expected to be out of the Spurs squad until next year, 2024.

For now, Madders will continue to recover. He is continuing with his rehabilitation at the training center of the club. Part of the provisional squad, now it seems Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has taken away his spot in the national team.
