Former Bayern Munich star and World Cup winner Jerome Boateng recently signed for Serie A side Salernitana. The defender was in the news surrounding his ex-girlfriend and model Kasia Lenhardt‘s death by suicide two years ago, in 2021. Following his transfer announcement to the Italian club, FC Nuremberg Frauen (Women’s team) reminded the world of the harrowing incident in the comment section.

Boateng recently made the move from French club Olympique Lyonnais as a free agent to Italian club Salernitana. Upon announcement of his arrival, a Twitter post featuring the same was flooded with images of the player’s late partner. Without saying more on the same, one can understand why fans and followers on social media were displeased and reacted similarly.

In it, the model was made to agree that she would commit to silence on all information about the footballer and their relationship. Moreover, there was much controversy surrounding their split, with both Boateng and Kasia blaming each other for their misfortunes at the time of their break-up. But it ended horrifically as Kaisa took her life.

Jerome Boateng’s arrival in Italy was not met with open arms, to say the least. As Salernitana announced Boateng’s arrival with an elaborate drone shot video, the comment section was not what one would expect. Hundreds upon hundreds of pictures of the late Kasia Lenhardt were uploaded, as fans paid tribute to the late model. Several supporters expressed their anger at the club’s decision to bring in the German defender.

Moreover, a fan commented that justice should be dealt to the late model. Many others wished that Salernitana were relegated for their decision to bring in Boateng. Others boldly admitted that they ‘hated’ the player for his actions and that they did not want him at the club. Many even wished injury upon the player, in a passionate reminder of his actions in the past.

Here are some of the fans’ reactions:

Boateng played for the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Lyon before signing for the Italians. He won the 2014 World Cup with Germany while also enjoying similar success with Bayern Munich. The player has nine Bundesliga titles and two UEFA Champions League titles to his name as well. He joined Salernitana for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
