While the footballing community argues whether Kylian Mbappe‘s arrival makes Real Madrid ‘unstoppable’, Barcelona President Joan Laporta has come up with a claim that is quite surprising. The Catalan President and his club are in a situation that is polarly opposite to that of Real Madrid.
While Barcelona have all sorts of financial constraints on their head, the Los Blancos enjoy the luxury of bringing in any player of their liking. Paris Saint-Germain No.7 Kylian Mbappe is as good as it gets for a club looking to add to their firepower.
The Frenchman and his proposed arrival to the Santiago Bernabeu has been a matter of much debate and anticipation. When quizzed about his take on the move, the Barcà President surprised many with his unconventional take.
I don't know if they will or won't do it. I have intuition. They have a problem. They have to sell a player (if Mbappe joins) right? And they're also very important players. And talking about the figures (wages), it will distort the dressing room for sure. This isn't a gift at all.Joan Laporta via Mundo Deportivo
As for Barcelona, the club may be forced to offload big-name players such as Raphinha and Ronald Araujo in order to comply with financial fair play (FFP) regulations.
Barcelona midfielder heaps praise on Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos
Barcelona and Real Madrid make for one of, if not the most fierce rivalry in football. The La Liga giants have gone against each other since the start of the 20th century, and there has been very little to separate the two in terms of success and glory. Despite the relationship between the two not getting any ‘better’ in recent years, Barcà midfielder Ilkay Gundogan didn’t hold back from showering praise on a veteran Madrid player.
Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich back in 2014, and has played a crucial role in the club’s success, both in the Champions League and domestically. Despite announcing his retirement from the national team in 2021, the veteran midfielder has chosen to return to the national team. The fact that Germany are hosts for the upcoming European Championship has greatly influenced his decision.
It's great to have Toni by our side. There aren't many players in Europe who have his qualities. I'm expecting a lot from him. I think we will manage him very well.Ilkay Gundogan told SPORT
The former Manchester City and current FC Barcelona midfielder is the captain of the German National team and will lead the tournament hosts in the 2024 Euros.
