Chelsea Legend, John Terry has defended Mason Mount‘s transfer to Premier League rivals Manchester United. The midfielder left Stamford Bridge for £60m this summer to play at the Old Trafford.

John Terry stated that there is an ‘untold story’ with regard to Mason Mount’s exit from the club. “Mase is proper Chels through and through. There’s always two sides to a story and I know the other side to it,” he stated. Terry has also asked the Stamford Bridge crowd not to be too harsh on the player when he returns to the stadium in the colors of Manchester United. Terry ended by urging the Blues to not be too harsh on their homeboy when he returns.

Mason Mount’s move to Manchester has angered quite a few Chelsea fans. As the player had demanded wages similar to that of Chelsea’s top earner, Raheem Sterling. After talks broke down, interests from Liverpool and Manchester United emerged. Eventually signing with the Red Devils, Mount left his boyhood club after 18 years. Mason Mount once said, “Chelsea is my blood. I love this club, I love these fans”. After John Terry’s words, what could be the reason for Mason to leave Chelsea?

Manchester United fans had mixed feelings when the player signed. Some believed him to be an upgrade on Christian Eriksen who couldn’t run as much anymore. Further, Fans have eventually warmed up to the player when Manchester United released a video of Mason Mount and his father in the dressing room.

Mount however has had a tough start to the season. Unremarkable performances against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspurs showed that the player still has not settled into the club as fans would have hoped. The midfielder is now sidelined with a hamstring injury set to keep him out of the squad for up to six weeks as of 24th August.

After a rough start at his new club, Mason Mount will be hoping to return to his old self as the player also had a poor last season at his boyhood club, Chelsea.
