Wayne Rooney, the talismanic #10 for Manchester United has been no stranger to outrageous goals in his career. Sir Alex Ferguson‘s trusted forward has been at the forefront of the Red Devils‘ attack for the greater part of 13 seasons. Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, Rooney has also played for Everton, Derby County, and DC United.

The Englishman retired from professional football in 2021, before trying his shot at a managerial role. He took charge of Derby County Football Club, DC United, and Birmingham City as well. Recently, a video of Rooney’s younger brother, John Rooney went viral, and the reason is just what you’d expect.

The 32-year-old midfielder shocked viewers as he let fly from the halfway line. The player retrieved the ball from near the midfield area and quickly dispatched a shot before the opposition could react.

His shot flew well over the keeper who was well off his line. The shot caught the keeper off-guard and hit the back of the net. The game ended 1-1 as Macclesfield and Basford shared the spoils. John Rooney plays in the 7th tier of English football, in the Northern Premier League.

Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo were crucial to the Manchester United squad during their time together. The Portuguese #7 was on the rise while Wayne Rooney was at the pinnacle of his career. Even though the duo won three Premier League titles and a Champions League during their time together, Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke up about their dynamic. Comments from a previous interview have resurfaced as the Swede talks about the two players’ relationship.

Ibrahimovic said that: 

When he (Rooney) played with Cristiano Ronaldo, all the work was done by Rooney.

Even though Rooney called time on his United career as their all-time leading goal scorer, Zlatan opined that what Rooney did over 5-7 years was not “easy” in any way. The Swedish superstar added:

There is pressure playing for a big team like United everyday.

Even though Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo have not shared the pitch on the same team, Rooney and the former did. The duo player for one whole season under Jose Mourinho, winning the Europa League and Carabao Cup. Ibrahimovic said this in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s interviewer with Piers Morgan, in which he called Rooney “jealous” and that the Englishman called him a “rat“.

While Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo haven’t played together, Ibrahimovic and Rooney teamed up for a season under Jose Mourinho. They secured victories in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. Responding to Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan, where Ronaldo labeled Rooney as “jealous” and a “rat,” Ibrahimovic made this remark.
