Ex-Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was trolled by fans after recent rumors emerged of the player willing to make a move back to European football following a decline in form in the Saudi league. The player has been linked to Juventus, who are considering a loan move.

The former Liverpool midfielder spent 12 seasons in the EPL, guiding the club to its historic 2019-20 Premier League win and the 2018-19 Champions League win. He made a £12 million move to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, aiming to reunite with former teammate Steven Gerrard. Despite earning a massive weekly wage of £350,000, the player appears dissatisfied and has openly expressed a desire to leave the Middle Eastern league. Juventus has shown interest in a potential loan deal.

The veteran midfielder who made more than 400 appearances for the Reds has been disillusioned by his dipping form and the diminishing popularity of the SPL. Al-Ettifaq’s poor run in the SPL, where they languish in the 8th position on the table, 28 points behind Al-Hilal, could also be a reason for his desire to leave.

Despite big names moving to the Middle East this season, matches have consistently witnessed low attendance and it seems to have lost a lot of its aura. In one such instance, Henderson played in front of a crowd of just 696 people against Al-Riyadh.

Henderson faced criticism from fans upon his return to represent England last year. Alongside the midfielder, a lot of other players like Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, and Karim Benzema are also willing to make a return to Europe following a drop in form.

Juventus have expressed their interest in signing the player on loan, and have reportedly contacted the player’s agents. Some fans criticized the player for prioritizing financial gain over a positive playing environment. Another fan expressed his disregard for the player by saying that he should not move back to Europe, but retire in Saudi.

Another fan ridiculed the Serie A side for pursuing older players instead of younger talents, adding that the club should change its name to ‘Old Ladies’. One fan, though, remained positive about a transfer, saying that his inclusion would strengthen the team’s midfield.
