Jose Mourinho adds another feather to his hat during his stint at Roma

Jose Mourinho will get his award before Roma’s top-of-the-table matchup with Atalanta after being awarded Serie A Coach of the Month for August. A jury of directors from several sports media organizations judged each coach based on technical and sporting standards, the caliber of play of their teams, as well as their conduct, and fair play during games.
After four rounds, the Giallorossi are tied for first place in Serie A and remain unblemished thanks to three victories and a tie against Juventus. A group of sports media executives selected Mourinho for the honour, and he will receive the award before the team’s next home game against Atalanta on Sunday, September 18.
“Jose Mourinho has once again confirmed himself as one of the best coaches in our league,” said Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo.
“The Portuguese coach has been able to convey the great ambitions of the Giallorossi by transforming them into results on the pitch.
“His extraordinary motivational skills, his tactical knowledge and his ability to elevate the performance of his players have allowed Roma to get off to the best possible start this season and conquer the top of the table, with three wins in four matches and only one goal conceded.”

Jose Mourinho is unique in his actions
It would appear that a Mourinho-led Italian football team is the only team capable of dominating Europe. And for the individual, who has won every European trophy he has been eligible to win, it was his fifth except for the European Super Cup. Once the final whistle, Mourinho was obviously emotional, expressing a mix of relief and joy at having won a contest he had decided to put all of his eggs in after it became clear that Roma would not place in the top four this season.
Before the Conference League final, it was questionable whether Mourinho had made Roma better than they were under Paulo Fonseca the previous year. Roma placed one spot better under Mourinho than they did under Fonseca, but only by one point. Additionally, Mourinho and Fonseca both had comparable records this season against the top teams, with Mourinho taking three victories to Fonseca’s two.
However, under Mourinho, there had been improvement in the second half of the season. Roma went on a run of 12 games without suffering a loss after the ridiculous capitulation to Juventus, where they gave up three goals in the final seven minutes to lose the game 4-3, including a convincing 3-0 victory over Lazio in the Derby della Capitale.
With a projected salary of $7.9 million per season, Mourinho and Max Allegri are the most paid coaches in Serie A. However, many began to question whether Roma were receiving value for their money, and at one point, there were rumours that Mourinho may leave Roma at the conclusion of the season, with newly promoted Newcastle among those interested.
However, following the victory in Tirana, Mourinho has redoubled his efforts to complete his three-year contract with the team. The 59-year-old is excited about the prospect of having time to build something rather than having to jump in and win right away.
“Now I am staying, there are no doubts. Even if some rumours emerge, I only want to remain at Roma,” said Mourinho. We must understand what our owners, who are fantastic people, want to do next season, because this is history.
“But we can build a really strong project with honest professionals. We need to sit down and understand what the plan is for next season.”
