AS Roma and Jose Mourinho have had a shaky start to the season. After 2 successful seasons in charge, the ‘3rd season Mourinho’ has apparently started taking effect. The club lost 3 of their first seven games. Roma are 12th in Serie A and Mourinho has been at the end of much of the criticism. However, the club bounced back to winning ways against Frosinone.

Following the game, José responded to recent Romelu Lukaku criticism. He said that he’d be the first to take charge if Lukaku did not score. However, the Roma boss reminded everyone, “He scores everywhere he goes. Be it United or Inter.” He said that he isn’t capable of destroying his quality. In spite of initial hiccups, Romelu Lukaku has now scored 4 goals for the club.

His most recent goal came in the 2-0 win against Frosinone on Monday. After the 4-1 defeat against Genoa, things were not looking good for José and Roma. However, a Paulo Dybala-Lukaku masterclass ensured that Roma bounced back. The special one is currently in his third season at Roma. The club has also qualified for the Europa League.

Jose Mourinho confirms that he rejected the ‘record’ offer in the summer

Jose Mourinho enters his third season as Roma boss. ‘The Special One’ led Roma to a European title after nearly six decades. He also led the team to the Europa League final last season. However, his third season was met with much criticism. Following recent defeats and poor form, many called for the Champions League winner to be sacked. Speaking to the Press, Jose shed light on the same.

He said that he had given his word to the fans and the players of his continual. However, he also added that he received an offer from Saudi in the summer. “It was the biggest, most important, and unfathomable offer that a coach has ever had in the history of football,” as per José. He said that he rejected it solely because of his word to the owner, Mr. Friedkin.

Al-Hilal approached the Portuguese with a €30 million offer. “Now it seems like I’m a problem,” said Mourinho. He was pointing to recent criticism following a tough start to the season. José said, “I don’t accept it since it’s not the case.” He further emphasized that he is in fact not the problem. Al-Hilal has signed Neymar, Malcom, and Koulibaly among others.
