Jose Mourinho might reunite with Jesse Lingard at AS Roma after his Manchester United exit: Reports
Jose Mourinho
Manchester United yesterday that 3 of their stars will be leaving the club on a free transfer as their contract expires in June. That includes Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata, and Jose Mourinho has set his sights on one of them. That being none other than Jesse Lingard. Lingard played for Jose Mourinho from 2016 to 2019 and enjoyed his best season as a Man Utd player under the Portuguese.
Jose Mourinho helps AS Roma to their first piece of silverware in 14 years. Proving once again that he is a serial winner. But Mourinho is not done there and is eyeing the Serie A title next season. However, the Portuguese must get new signings to make his squad strong enough to challenge the other Italian giants, and Jesse Lingard is his top target, as reported by Gazzetta.
Jesse Lingard set to get numerous proposals after confirming Manchester United exit
Jesse Lingard didn’t end his Manchester United career in the best way. However, his loan spell last season at West Ham was enough to convince clubs across Europe that he still has the magic in him. Hence, Lingard has no shortage of proposals from England and other parts of Europe. West Ham always wanted Lingard on a permanent deal, but couldn’t agree with Manchester United on a price tag. The hammers now have a chance to sign the 29-year-old on a free transfer.
Newcastle United are also in the race to sign Lingard. The club’s new owners would be delighted to have a Premier League proven player in their squad as they start rebuilding to make Newcastle one of the biggest clubs in England. Newcastle tried to sign Lingard in January last season but their interest was warded off by United.
As things stand, while Jesse has offers to stay in England, he could be tempted by Jose Mourinho to join him in Italy. Lingard’s best season for Manchester United in the Premier League (12 G+A) came under Jose Mourinho.
Lingard could also be the perfect replacement for another former Red Devil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan who might be leaving Roma to sign for Inter Milan this Summer. However Lingard has no urgency to make a decision, he could take his time and decide where he wants to play finally.
