AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho did not hold back from digging at a player who shares rifts with, this time it is the World Cup winner Papu Gomez. This comes in after the Argentine striker earlier had hit out Jose with a sarcastic remark but it has not sat well with the Portuguese.

Papu Gomez said:

Mourinho? I only have one memory of him, and that is me winning the Europa League with Sevilla against him.

However, since then Gomez has not had it easy for himself. Recently, he received a two-year ban for testing positive in a doping test. The Spanish anti-doping agency and subsequently, his club, Monza released a statement on the same. And now, Jose Mourinho shares his two cents on the same.

I have a cough... But I won't take any syrup or pills. Or I might have some trouble passing doping control.
Mourinho said in a post-match conference ahead of Roma vs. Monza

Mourinho also stated that Gomez had not featured in a game, yet he was too flashy in his achievements.

Papu Gomez recently defended himself on social media. He explained that while trying to help his sick son, he accidentally took cough medicine. This led to a positive drug test and a two-year ban from the Spanish Anti-doping agency. In an Instagram post, Gomez stated that he consumed ‘Terbutaline’ with the syrup, which is not a prohibited substance and doesn’t impact his game performance. Whether he will challenge or accept the decision remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, he is yet to respond to Mourinho’s playful remarks as fans have been enjoying this little, ongoing banter between the two.
