Jose Mourinho, in a recent interview on ‘FIVE’ Podcast, boldly predicted the winners of this season’s Premier League and UEFA Champions League. He favored Manchester City for the EPL title and both City and Real Madrid for the UCL.
‘The Special One’ was sacked by Roma last month after a series of disappointing results. In a recent interview on Rio Ferdinand‘s podcast, the 66-year-old spoke about his immediate future, and his experiences with other teams, and made some predictions for the victors of elite European competitions. He emphasized that he would be surprised if any team outside his predictions claimed the title.
Mourinho identified Liverpool and Manchester City as favorites for the title this term and backed City to perform equally well in the UEFA Champions League as well. When it comes to the UCL, he expressed his backing for Real Madrid, a club he has managed in the past and holds dearly to his heart. He also added Bayern Munich and PSG to the list of potential winners of the UCL title.
Premier League, City or Liverpool, so I’m not making a mistake. But I think City. Champions League, I would say City or Real Madrid. If somebody outside wins it that would be a great surprise for me.
Fans pointed out that the legendary manager did not mention Arsenal among his predictions, even though the Gunners are level with City in the Premier League. Additionally, he overlooked his former team Inter Milan, despite their strong performance this season.
Jose Mourinho breaks ice on Roma exit, claims to have refused TWO HUGE offers
On the podcast, Jose Mourinho also revealed the details of his Roma exit last month and claimed that he refused two other managerial offers. The ex-Chelsea manager expressed that one of these offers came from the Portuguese national team before a World Cup.
The former Real Madrid manager expressed his disappointment with the Roma management, expressing that it ‘hurt’ him the most. He pointed out his achievements at the Italian side, winning the Europa Conference League and reaching the Europa League final in his two-and-a-half-year spell.
I refused some great working opportunities. The first one was very hard to refuse because it was the Portugal national team.. Then I had a big one from Saudi.
Regarding the two offers he declined, the manager emphasized the significance of an offer from the Portugal national team. He also mentioned receiving another offer from a Saudi club, which he turned down.
