Jose Mourinho once again displays his press conference brilliance, as he proved once again by mocking Tottenham Hotspurs ahead of Roma’s thrilling Europa League final against Sevilla. Mourinho stands just 90 minutes away from winning the trophy that he last got his hands on when manager of Man United in 2017. The Portuguese faced the same scenario at Tottenham in 2021, but Daniel Levy fired him ahead of the Carabao Cup final, which they eventually lost to Manchester City.
“At Roma, they didn’t sack me before the final in Tirana,” Mourinho said to reporters. “In Tottenham, they sacked me before the final at Wembley.” His words come hot on the heels of his press conference last week where he noted that he has strong feelings for all of his previous clubs except “Mr. Levy’s club.” In an interview earlier, the Roma manager, Jose Mourinho has revealed that Tottenham is the only one of his previous clubs that he no longer has a connection with.
Mourinho has held nine different managerial positions in his illustrious coaching career, including three in England and Portugal, two in Italy and Portugal, and one in Spain. He is now enjoying his time at Roma, which he has led to back-to-back European finals. Roma faces Sevilla in the Europa League final on May 31 after winning the Europa Conference League by defeating Feyenoord last season, making Mourinho a triple-crown champion.

Jose Mourinho is back! Restoring Roma has proven he remains elite
Jose Mourinho remains a highly divisive figure, but there is no denying that he has done a remarkable job at the Stadio Olimpico. Sevilla are specialist in Europa League success. They have gone through Manchester United and Juventus to reach this year’s final. And yet Ivan Rakitic views beating Roma as an “even harder” assignment for one reason and one reason alone: Jose Mourinho, one of the top three coaches in the world, according to the Croatian.
“A great who has already won all of the European cups in his career… Mourinho is a truly special strategist, unique in every sense.” No matter what you make of Mourinho and his methods, it’s impossible to disagree. He looked finished at the very highest level after his Spurs sacking, but his time at Tottenham has since been cast in a very different light by Antonio Conte’s subsequent struggles working under Daniel Levy – and, far more importantly, by his remarkable revival of Roma”. Rakitic said.
When Mourinho arrived in the Italian capital in the summer of 2021 to great fanfare, the Giallorossi had one only one major European title – the 1960-61 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Now, they’re bidding for two in a row, after last season’s Europa Conference League final victory over Feyenoord. It will remain a hugely impressive achievement, regardless of the result in Budapest, given the resources at his disposal at the Stadio Olimpico.
