Al-Ittihad have made their interest in Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah public as the Saudi club has apparently opened negotiations. Jurgen Klopp, however, has publicly come out and said that the Egyptian is “100% committed to Liverpool.”
Jurgen has stated that no official offer has been sent to the club. An official offer would however still be declined as the club has no interest in parting with Salah. The Egyptian who renewed his contract before the ’22 season is expected to remain at the club till the end of the ’24/25 season. Rumours are flying around that if the Egyptian were to leave for Saudi, he would be the highest-earning player in the world. Al-Ittihad are willing to offer Salah a salary more lucrative than the Al-Nassr striker Cristiano Ronaldo possesses.
Mohamed Salah, who is adored by Liverpool will be sad to see the forward go if the transfer were to go through. 4 years ago a study by Stanford University showed that Salah’s popularity had reduced anti-Muslim sentiments and hate crimes towards them. The influence reached online spheres as well. Liverpool fans were less likely to share or tweet anti-Muslim sentiments ever since Salah first appeared in a Liverpool kit. His deeds do not end there. In an interview with Time Magazine, Salah spoke on women’s equality. “I think we need to change the way we treat women in our culture,” Salah said. “It’s not optional.”
A brilliant player on the pitch, and a lovely human being off it. Salah’s departure would mark the end of an era. An era which saw Liverpool lift the Premier League title after 30 years and win the Champions League title for the 6th time in their history.
Mohammed Salah’s time in the Premier League

Salah’s start in the Premier League was not all joyous. Bought by Chelsea, he only managed 13 appearances with 2 goals. After a stint in Serie A clubs, Roma and Fiorentina, Salah made his way back to England, signing for Liverpool. Many had doubts about the Chelsea-reject, but his first season put all doubts to rest. Salah scored 32 goals in his first season back.
Minimum of 19 goals a season, Salah would strike fear into the opposition with his blistering pace, incredible dribbling ability and precise finishing. Along with his compatriots Sadio Mane and Firmino, the trio would terrorize Premier League oppositions as the 3 would dribble past teams, confuse teams with backheels/flicks and score goals for fun.
Since his arrival at the club, Liverpool have scored 90+ points in the league on 3 separate occasions, winning a single premier league along the way. It took the genius of Pep Guardiola and the might of Real Madrid to stop Salah from not adding more silverware to his cabinet. His time at Liverpool will be remembered fondly regardless. Once a Chelsea reject, now a Premier League legend, Liverpool will always remember ‘Mo Salah Running Down the Wing’.
