The perfect farewell has been cancelled! Jurgen Klopp and his men were on the receiving end as Manchester United mustered a 4-3 win in extra-time in the FA Cup. The heavily anticipated clash boiled down to two late goals from Manchester United, courtesy of Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo. Celebrations rang throughout the night as Erik ten Hag‘s men booked a spot in the competitions last 4.

United were exceptional in front of goal, as the Red Devils were the first and last on the scoresheet. The hosts came to life in extra-time, and just when fans were convinced that Liverpool clinched victory, two late goals turned the tie on it’s head. While fatigue plays a crucial role in extra-time, a reporter’s rather ‘insensitive’ question has enraged Jurgen Klopp.

When asked why his team struggled to maintain their intensity in the final stages of the game, Klopp’s reply made no effort to hide his frustration.

It's a dumb question. I don't know how many games we've played recently and United as well. Really disappointed about that question, but obviously you thought it's good.

Klopp also slammed the reporter for asking more about the same and pointed out that he wasn’t in good shape either to raise questions about ‘fitness’.

United ruin Liverpool’s ‘perfect’ farewell plan for Klopp

Manchester United seemed the ‘weaker’ of the two sides as the Red Devils hosted Liverpool in an electric quarter-final match-up. Faced with the possibility of going trophyless this season, United went all-in on Sunday. As expected, the hosts scored first, as Scott McTominay forced the ball past the line after Caoimhin Kelleher failed to keep the ball out of danger.

Alexis Mac Allister pulled Liverpool back in the game just before half-time and Mohamed Salah carried the momentum to their advantage minutes later. As Liverpool edged to victory, along came Antony, a player who’s struggled to find his form this season. His goal lifted the atmosphere at Old Trafford as United put Liverpool under pressure for the final minutes. Rashford nearly won it for them at the death, but saw his attempt go narrowly wide of the post.

In extra-time, Harvey Elliott’s deflected shot made it past Andre Onana, with many believing that is was the final goal of the game. United clearly had other plans, as Rashford and substitute Amad Diallo made sure that Liverpool wouldn’t get their hands on the quadruple. United will now face Coventry City in the semi-final before facing the victor of Manchester City vs Chelsea.
