It was a moment of panic for Jurgen Klopp. After a chaotic 2 hours in which Liverpool managed a 4-2 win over Newcastle United, Klopp must’ve been relieved. In his usual style, he went towards the Kop to thank them and to do his usual fist pumps to the fans. Unfortunately, before he could start, his wedding ring dropped out of his hand.
The German manager panicked yet again and started searching for it. He started walking around the area and even requested a steward to help him find the ring. Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville thought Klopp had pulled his hamstring when he suddenly stopped, but as he walked comfortably they were confused.
Oh my god, that would have been really… I lost it once and I needed a professional diver because I lost it in the sea. From time to time when I lose one or two kilo, and I was too lively and I lost it and I had a massive shock. The camera man he annoyed me quite a few times this season, but today he now has a lot of shots free because that was really important.Jurgen Klopp in the post-match interview
Their confusions were solved when Klopp noticed something near the foot of the cameraman. Carragher commented how his wife wouldn’t be happy with Klopp losing his ring.
He bent down and revealed that he found his ring. He picked it up and kissed it in front of the camera. In the post-match interview, Klopp revealed this wasn’t the first time he dropped the ring and thanked the cameraman.
Superb Martin Dubravka can’t stop Liverpool from winning 3 points
Liverpool faced a tough match against Newcastle United, winning 4-2. They dominated with 34 shots and a record-breaking 7.27 expected goals. Despite Newcastle’s goalkeeper, Martin Dubravka, making 10 saves, including a penalty save, Liverpool managed to score.
The first half ended goalless, but chaos ensued in the second half. Mohamed Salah broke the deadlock 4 minutes in, and Newcastle quickly equalized through Alexander Isak’s impressive goal just 5 minutes later.
Liverpool scored their second goal in just 20 minutes. Curtis Jones tapped the ball into an empty net after a great assist from Salah. Moreover, three minutes later, Salah assisted again, leading to Cody Gakpo’s third goal of the season. However, the 2-goal lead dropped to one when Sven Botman scored for the Magpies three minutes later.
But, a hope of a comeback was cut short when in the 86th minute, Liverpool got a controversial penalty. Diogo Jota had a 1v1 against Dubravka, and after getting past the goalkeeper, with a minimal of touches from the keeper, the forward took two steps and fell. Subsequently, referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot for a penalty, which Salah converted.
With the 4-2 win, Liverpool stand 3 points above Aston Villa at the top of the table. However, they will now lose Salah and Wataru Endo for four weeks minimum as they represent their countries at the African Cup of Nations and AFC Asian Cup.
