Jurgen Klopp revealed details of a brief conversation he had with Brentford striker Ivan Toney, following Liverpool’s 4-1 win over the Bees. Further, Klopp also reiterated what Toney has admitted to before – that the English forward is a Liverpool fan after all!
The Reds’ manager embraced Ivan Toney and engaged in a thoughtful discussion with the player, after the match. The German manager, who is set to leave at the end of the season, exclaimed that the 27-year-old forward is a big fan of Liverpool. Subsequently, they spoke about their shared support for the Merseyside club. Klopp also added that he acknowledged Toney’s skills, while the player wished him luck for his future after departing Liverpool.
The Liverpool manager agreed that the two had a heartfelt conversation, and Toney was a player he genuinely admired. He also mentioned later to the press that the opponent players often found Toney’s style of play, challenging.

Additionally, the German gaffer also spoke to a few other Brentford players, finding them good to talk to despite their challenging gameplay. He praised the team’s demeanor and claimed them to be one of the nicest teams and coaching staff.
Ivan Toney is currently being praised for his impressive form, since returning from the eight-month ban. He scored a goal against Liverpool, taking his tally to four goals in five matches. It was although only a consolation, as Liverpool won the match 4-1.
Jurgen Klopp praises Xabi Alonso, amid Liverpool succession speculations
Outgoing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised Xabi Alonso, labeling him as the ‘standout’ manager among the new generation of football coaches. The Bayer Leverkusen manager is being seen as the front-runner to replace Klopp at Anfield after he departs at the end of the season.
The former Liverpool & Real Madrid midfielder is doing a fabulous job in Germany, leading his side to the top of the table. Klopp, speaking to the media, praised Alonso’s remarkable work, although admitting that he was initially skeptical about Alonso’s coaching abilities. The 56-year-old manager also highlighted the former Liverpool midfielder’s transition from player to coach, commending his tactics and managerial decisions.
Klopp hailed Alonso as the best manager, among the upcoming group of young football managers. Moreover, he added that he is not involved in the search for his successor, and it would only be done by the club’s owners.
