Liverpool breathe sigh of relief as Salah’s injury labeled ‘not serious’

Liverpool have managed to do particularly well in the Premier League, given significant absentees due to injury. The club received a significant scare on Thursday as star man Mohamed Salah picked up an injury against Ghana in his side’s 2-2 draw. The Egyptian winger is currently away on International duty in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Initially considered serious, Mohamed Salah’s injury on Friday has been reported as ‘not serious’ and due to an issue in his back, rather than a hamstring problem. The Egyptian camp also played down the possibility of a significant injury. As for Egypt, the first two games in the group stage saw them pick up an unimpressive 2 points.

Moreover, for their final game, they face group leaders Cape Verde. So, anything short of a win will take their future out of their hands. With Egypt’s poor form and Mohamed Salah’s fitness a doubt, Liverpool may have their star man back at Anfield as early as the EFL Cup semi-final against Bournemouth. It might be so that Jurgen Klopp’s wish of Salah going out in the group stages will come true.
