“PL might be cooked, man is GOATED” — Liverpool fans OPTIMISTIC, Baseball guru & mastermind Theo Epstein joins as Senior Advisor in search for Jurgen Klopp’s successor

Liverpool fans are thrilled at the prospect of having baseball ‘mastermind’ Theo Epstein at the club. With Jurgen Klopp announcing his decision to part ways with the club at the end of the season, Liverpool have been tasked with the monumental responsibility of finding a worthy successor for the German. To do so, the club has brought in an unexpected personality in Theo Epstein, part-owner of FSG and the ‘brain’ behind three World Series triumphs.

Liverpool are currently top of the league table and are in pole position to lift the trophy – a fitting farewell for Klopp. However, with Pep Lijnders also announcing his decision to leave the club, the Reds are in dire need of a replacement. While Liverpool have already ‘identified’ former player Xabi Alonso, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, and Ruben Amorim as potential replacements, nothing has been confirmed.

The prospect of a baseball ‘mastermind’ assisting Liverpool has put fans on their toes as well. Epstein said,

I am thrilled and honored to return to FSG. In this role, I won't be making decisions, but rather, I'll ask questions, offer opinions and build trust.

Moreover, he assured that his efforts will be aimed towards helping FSG and Liverpool reach ‘new heights’. Following the announcement of his arrival, fans are thrilled and buzzing, as evident on social media.

Fans react to Theo Epstein leading the ‘search’ for the next boss

With Theo Epstein’s links to Liverpool, several fans were surprised to witness a crossover of sorts between baseball and football. That being said, another fan pointed out his surname ‘Epstein’ and commented that they just call him by his first name. Baseball fans swooped in to assure Liverpool that are in good hands and that the club should consider itself very lucky.

However, others remained skeptical of the proposed move. A transition from baseball to football isn’t something that breathes confidence for many, with a fan saying that it was a good ride, mocking the ‘downfall’ set to ensue. Meanwhile, others simply wanted Xabi Alonso as manager. Comments ranging from ‘bring us Alonso’ and ‘just help us get Xabi’ were a common sight.

That being said, bringing Xabi Alonso to Liverpool will be no easy task. The likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will also look to bring in the Bayer Leverkusen manager at the end of the season. But, right now, Liverpool are top of the Premier League table and are sitting on a five-point lead. They take on familiar opponents Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
