“We have the ball, we give it away,” Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool players to uplift themselves ahead of PL tie against Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp said his players need to be more responsible in possession if they want to beat league leaders Arsenal. Liverpool is yet to be at their best season, evident by their performance in a 0-0 draw against Chelsea.

“Our main problem at Chelsea now, when you look at that game, it was like a flipper. We have the ball, we give it away. We have the ball, we give it away.” Liverpool slipped two spots to eighth in the league after Tuesday’s draw, with 43 points after 28 games. They are now ten points outside the top four.

Klopp urged his team to improve this weekend. “This game has gone, and now we have another chance. We will give it a proper try, and we will need Anfield. We’re at home and still have to show a reaction and an improvement.” This season, the Merseyside club has an excellent home record in the league, with only Leeds United defeating them.

Liverpool will attempt to build on this when they host Arsenal. The Gunners are the first team to visit Anfield since the 7-0 thrashing of rivals Manchester United. Klopp praised his opponents and their manager: “The way they play is fun to watch, to be honest, it’s super-lively, really good football, top players on the pitch, good match plans.”

Jurgen Klopp grew frustrated with questions during a Liverpool pre-match press conference ahead of a game against Arsenal. The manager made several changes to the lineup in a drab draw against Chelsea.

He was asked whether the changes were due to the Manchester City defeat or merely because of player workload. Klopp responded irritably: “We had a game against City, which is an influence physically and performance-wise. It is both. How can you expect me to give you an answer and say, ‘Two were because of that, and four were because of that.’ That is a real waste of time.”

Klopp was also asked whether he believed his latest remarks this week would “define” Liverpool’s season. He said: “If we win this game, we will have taken four points out of these games. This would be completely normal for us in the past.”

The German was seemingly still annoyed with the lack of creativity from the journalists. “I understand from your point of view it’s super difficult to find new questions every week but believe me, it’s even more difficult to find new answers,” he said.
