Football fans certainly weren’t expecting Kanye West of all people to make an appearance at the San Siro on Tuesday night! The American rapper and producer stunned the footballing community as he was spotted in attendance at the Round of 16 match between Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid. A clip of Kanye arriving at the stadium in a ‘strange’ outfit made fans take notice hours before the game.

While many were surprised as to what business Kanye West had at a football game, Inter Milan Ultras will certainly know why. The rapper collaborated with the fan group for the composition of ‘CARNIVAL’, a song in his latest album – Vultures. Clips from the studio, where Inter Ultras sang their chants had gone viral earlier on social media. In other news, his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, has also taken a keen interest in the sport in recent times.

The Ultras group Curva Nord Milano has also received writing credits for two songs in his latest album in collaboration with Ty Dolla Sign. What surprised most fans was the fact that Kanye’s outfit for the game featured an all-black outfit, which also covered his face.

He did not remove the ‘mask’ throughout the game as well. Inter Milan managed a narrow win against Atletico thanks to a goal from Marko Arnautović.

Inter Milan took a significant step ahead of Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. The Italian giants edged Diego Simeone and co. thanks to a solitary goal from their end #8. Milan was undoubtedly the dominant side in the match-up, as displayed by the disparity in statistics. The home side managed 19 total shots, compared to a humble seven by the visitors.

Inter were incessant in their attempt to establish a lead on the game, right from the start. However, a resolute Atletico defense paired with Jan Oblak made their job a lot more difficult. Finally, as the game neared it’s end, Marko Arnautović beat the Atletico defense and an out-of-position Oblak to give his team the advantage.

Heading into the second leg, Atletico will have to encounter a rock-solid Inter defense, who have built up a reputation as the best defensive team in Serie A. Simone Inzaghi‘s men have only conceded just 12 goals in 24 games in the league! The club also conceded just 5 goals in the group stages as they qualified behind Real Sociedad from Group D. Following the win, Inter fans are hopeful of a repeat of last season’s Champions League run. With 63 points in 24 games, the team is also top of Serie A.
