Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne’s goal against Real Madrid was selected as the week’s best goal in the UEFA Champions League. De Bruyne’s goal was the equalizer that kept Manchester City from losing the first leg of the semifinals of UCL against the Spanish Giants.

Kevin De Bruyne’s goal was one which raised quite a few eyebrows. According to reports Real Madrid fans believe that the goal was not rightly given as they seem to think that the ball crossed the sideline which means the ball shouldn’t have been at play. Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti also seems to believe that. He was seen arguing with the referees after the goal was given to Manchester City.

Vinicius Jr’s goal in the same match was voted as second-best. It was Vini’s goal that broke the deadlock of the match. Manchester City and Real Madrid will again face each other on May 18, 2023, for the second leg of the UCL semifinals at the Etihad Stadium.

Croatian midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, is reportedly on Manchester City’s radar. They might consider making a move for the 29-year-old. Kovacic currently has only one year left on his Chelsea contract. And the situation has raised the interest of Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola. He is known to be a big admirer of the Croatian player. Chelsea, however, are keen to avoid a scenario where several players, including Kovacic, enter the final 12 months of their deals.

Kovacic might consider leaving this summer. In that case, Chelsea are reportedly going to demand a transfer fee between £30 and £40m for the talented Croat.

Guardiola reportedly sees Kovacic as a potential relatively affordable option if he doesn’t sign a new contract with Chelsea. The Croatian Champions League winner and World Cup finalist could be an attractive addition for City, who may also be looking to sign more than one midfielder, considering the uncertain futures of players like İlkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva.
