Al-Nassr are planning a shock transfer move to unite Treble-winning Manchester City midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne and Cristiano Ronaldo, confirms sports journalist Rudy Galetti.

The 32-year-old’s agent was contacted by a Saudi club to discuss the possibility of him joining them in 2025 after his current contract ends. Galetti said this is an ‘ongoing’ situation, as the club is trying to persuade the player to join Al-Nassr by explaining their sports plans. De Bruyne’s former City teammate, Aymeric Laporte, already joined Al-Nassr this summer after falling out of favor in City’s defense.

Kevin De Bruyne joined the Cityzens in 2015 for a then club-record transfer fee of £54million. Since then the midfielder has been a pivotal player for the club in their run to win several Premier Leagues, EFL Cups, and a recent UEFA Champions League trophy – the first in the club’s history.

Yet, the player’s recent injuries and advancing age raise doubts about his future at the Etihad. He’s played just twice for Man City this season, and during the Premier League opener against Burnley, he was substituted after only 23 minutes. Given the uncertainty surrounding his return from injury and his contract ending in 2025, he may consider other opportunities.

Who would take over Kevin De Bruyne’s role in Manchester City?

Losing a player of Kevin De Bruyne’s caliber could hurt any team in world football, however, Manchester City has proven themselves to be capable of replacing players when the time comes. In the recent absence of De Bruyne, Julian Alvarez has been capturing all the headlines this season for City as the Argentine has taken his opportunity in the starting XI by the scruff of the neck.

While the Argentine is not a like-for-like substitute of the player, his addition to regular football at the team has seen the club currently in 3rd place – 4 points behind league leaders, Tottenham Hotspurs with a game in hand. However, his addition also means that City has lost an incredible play-making, creative midfielder which was evident when the club took on Arsenal and looked out of ideas against Mikel Arteta’s men.

With Kevin De Bruyne’s growing injuries and his contract running out within 2 years, Pep’s Man City will have to start looking for replacements for their midfield maestro as they remain the lowest-scoring side amongst the top 7 clubs at the moment.
