Kevin Prine Boateng, former Barcelona forward, has opened up about his time at Camp Nou along with the club legend, Lionel Messi. Boateng had a very short stint with Barca. But he revealed a funny moment when he was forced by the club’s management to name Lionel Messi as the G.O.A.T footballer during the interview.
Boateng’s revelation in the latest episode of the FIVE podcast hosted by Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has sent the whole football community and social media into a frenzy. The candid story also provides some insights into the atmosphere of Barcelona. While many took it in a lighthearted tone, rival fans saw this as an opportunity to slate Barcelona management and their so-called ‘toxicity’. However, there was nothing deep with the way Boateng recalled the incident.
Kevin-Prince Boateng had a dreamy opportunity of witnessing Lionel Messi play. He was presented with this opportunity of training beside him as well. In the episode, Boateng also admits that he shares an admiration for Messi despite the incident that occurred way back in the day.
No wonder why, as Lionel Messi’s on-pitch performance in La Liga has often left the fans in awe. The 7-time Ballon d’Or winner spent 17 wonderful seasons with the Spanish giants FC Barcelona. However, many still do not remember Boateng’s stint at Barcelona all too well.
Kevin-Prince Boateng’s short stint at Barcelona
Kevin Prince Boateng, the Ghanaian-German footballer, had a brief but notable stint at Barcelona during the 2019/20 season. He used to play as a striker due to his versatility and goal-scoring prowess.
Boateng joined Barcelona on a loan from the Italian club Sassuolo. Boateng made appearances in La Liga and Copa del Rey matches. One of his remarkable performances was in the Copa Del Ray quarter-finals against Sevilla.
Kevin-Prince Boateng’s time at Barcelona may have been brief and very underwhelming, but it added an interesting and worthwhile chapter to his professional footballing career.
