Premier League rivalries make for the biggest element of entertainment in the most competitive league in Europe. Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are all in contention to lift this year’s title, just two points separating the top three.
Manchester City look to defend their title for a fourth consecutive time! However, Arsenal look to right their wrongs from last season and secure the all elusive title that slipped through their hands last year.
Liverpool, who are in the lead, will look to give Jurgen Klopp the perfect farewell gift. While the three-horse race hangs in the balance, fans have taken notice of another incident off the pitch. City star Kyle Walker has made a strange claim, publicly stating that he prefers Liverpool to lift the title over Arsenal! While many were surprised as to why the City man would make such a claim, the answer lies in his former club – Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham versus Arsenal makes for one of the most fierce rivalries in the Premier League. The North London derby has featured in some of the most heavily contested games in all of the competition.
It's so hard. I don't want Arsenal to win because of Tottenham. I just don't want Arsenal.Kyle Walker on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE podcast
Walker clarified that he still has a ‘soft spot’ for his former club and that he’d rather see his biggest rival (Liverpool) win the EPL if not for his own side.
Erling Haaland, Darwin Nunez and Premier League at stake, Liverpool vs Man City can shape the season
The Premier League is set to witness one of the most heavily contested finales in recent years. Liverpool are set to host defending champions and treble winners Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. With just one point separating both sides ahead of Sunday, a win for either side could prove to be monumental to their title hopes. City are in electrifying form, scoring 13 goals in their last 4 games.
Liverpool are also on the end of seven back to back wins, with a 5-1 win against Sparta Praha being their most recent result. Up front, either side have strikers in the mood for goals. Premier League top scorer Erling Haaland has scored six goals in his last three games while Darwin Nunez‘s numbers also warrant praise.
Five goals in his last five outings makes the Uruguayan a force to reckon with come Sunday. Barring a crossing of paths in the FA Cup, the game on Sunday will be the last time either manager will face off in the league. While Man City have been nothing short of brilliant, the Reds’ season become even more special in light of the enormous list of injuries they’ve been forced to deal with. Come what may, the game on Sunday is set to be one for the ages.
