According to a report by the Daily Mail, an expert lip reader claimed the City captain was taunted about his kids by Maupay. Having enough of it, he went up to Gillett and complained.
I'm gonna knock him (Maupay) out. Ref he spoke about my kids, he spoke about my kids, not once, but twice.
Maupay defended himself, claiming he had no such thing.
I didn't, it's OK. That's a lie, that's not fair, I promise you now.
Gillett and Attwell tried to calm down Walker, telling him they would see into it towards the end of the game. Walker has been caught in controversy as he split with his wife, Annie Kilner. It was revealed to her by Lauryn Goodman, an influencer and model, that Walker had fathered her 2nd child. He has three sons with Kilner and two children, a son and a daughter, with Goodman.
Moreover, Walker doesn’t live with his family anymore, renting a separate house. He has taken responsibility for his mistakes publicly and admitted he wanted a move away. In an interview with The Sun, he admitted he was thinking of moving to Bayern Munich to get away from the controversy.
Neal Maupay: The master of wind-up
The Premier League has been home to players who often try to rile up their opponents, with many often being successful in doing so. One of them is the French striker, Neal Maupay. His first instance of reiling up opponents began in 2020 during his time at Brighton, when a clash with then Arsenal keeper, Berd Leno. It led to a fight between him and some Arsenal players. In the ongoing season, he has done it thrice. It first began at Stamford Bridge, when he stepped on the pitch to kick the ball away from Cole Palmer before he could take a free kick. He was booked for it.
He later riled up James Maddison by doing his darts celebration after scoring against Tottenham Hotspur. Maddison went up to confront Maupay and in the post-match interview took digs at him. Maupay took the spat on Twitter as well, mocking how he didn’t have as many relegations as the English midfielder.
