French striker Kylian Mbappe has reacted to the recent statement of France President Emmanuel Macron regarding his situation with Paris Saint Germain. Macron had reportedly been close to Mbappe. The President was seen consoling the striker after his valiant but failed attempts to bring France another World Cup glory in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

In a pre-match interview of the Euro Qualifiers, Mbappe was asked for his opinion on whether Macron could convince him to stay at PSG after 2024. He replied to this question by saying, “Macron will have no impact on my future. He hopes for me to stay at PSG and I want to stay, so… we’re on the same page”.

A couple of days back, President Macron issued a statement on his opinion about Mbappe’s current situation with PSG. Macron, said, “I don’t know what is happening with Kylian, but I will push for him to stay”. The French President is said to have played a pivotal role in keeping the talisman at the club after Real Madrid offered him a contract last summer.

It seems this time Mbappe is convinced to leave the club anyhow. He sent a letter to the PSG hierarchy where he said he won’t extend his stay at the club after 2024. However, the club didn’t take it well. They have now given the player two options either to sign a new contract or they would look for suitors for Mbappe’s services this summer. PSG are pretty clear about their stand that they won’t let Mbappe walk out of the door for free.

Kylian Mbappe talked about PSG’s reaction to his letter regarding his decision not to extend his stay beyond 2024. PSG reportedly was quite upset after receiving the letter. Speculations have circulated regarding their plans of selling the player this summer to prevent him from leaving for free in the next.

In the post-match interview, Mbappe talked about how surprised he was with the club’s reaction. He said, “I just sent a letter but it was time ago, not during the international break. Honestly, I did not think I was going to offend anyone. I only sent a letter. I didn’t know a letter could kill someone. It’s just a letter. I don’t care about the reactions”.

Mbappe was also questioned about how he felt about facing so much criticism after his decision not to extend his contract with PSG after 2024. Mbappe said, “Explain why I plan to stay without renewing? Guys, there’s nothing to explain. People can talk, criticize… I know why I do what I do and why I say what I say. People don’t have all the information. I have my own reasons. My only option now is staying at PSG, I already said that “.
