Kylian Mbappe, the French forward, praised Lionel Messi during a press conference before France’s match against Gibraltar. He commended Messi for winning the 2023 Ballon d’Or, calling him one of the greatest in football history. Many believe it was a contentious Ballon d’Or win, with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Mbappe himself being frontliners for the award after an incredible season for each one of them. Football fans would point out the fact that Mbappe called Messi ‘one of the greatest players in the history of the game’ as well as the greatest for himself too, overlooking his idol, Portuguese captain, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe, serving as the French team captain, stated that PSG-related questions should be directed to the campus. Recent rumors suggested Real Madrid won’t pursue Mbappe as a free agent next year, as they did not sign him this year. Reports from Spain indicate Real Madrid is no longer in the race.
