The biggest transfer saga in football shows no signs of ending anytime soon. As per the latest reports, Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid still hangs in the balance. Following the game against Toulouse on Thursday, Mbappe talked to the press, as he revealed crucial information regarding his future at the club. The #7 backtracked on his ‘agreement’ with PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and shifted his focus to the success of the team.

The Parisian forward scored his team’s second as PSG beat Toulouse in the Trophée des Champions on Thursday. Mbappe has entered the final six months of his contract at PSG, allowing him to sign a pre-contract with a new team. Even though Mbappe said that he would not be renewing his contract with the Parisians at the end of the season, he now claims that he has not made up his mind regarding his future.

Mbappe said in the latest interview, after winning the Trophée des Champions, said that,

I'm very, very motivated for this season. We've got more titles to go for, and no, I haven't made up my mind yet. In any case, it doesn't matter what I decide.

Mbappe said this regarding the ‘agreement’ he had in place with the PSG President months ago. It is yet to be seen whether Mbappe will once again renew with the club or complete the dream move of joining Real Madrid at the end of the season.

He pushed the matter away, claiming that it’s a ‘secondary’ concern. 

Protecting all parties and the serenity of the club is what's important.

Mbappe recently turned 25 in December. Now, no longer a star boy, many retired players claim that he is in the ‘make-or-break’ phase of his career. With Liverpool also in the race to sign him, it will be interesting to see what becomes of his future next.

Mbappe looks back at the last-minute U-turn in May

Kylian Mbappe shocked the footballing community back in 2023 May, when the Frenchman finally announced that he would be extending with PSG. The #7 signed a one-year extension at PSG and is currently the captain of the side which is first in Ligue 1. Moreover, in September, it was revealed that Mbappe agreed to forgo around €100 million in loyalty bonuses had he chosen to leave PSG on a free transfer this summer.

He said that last year-round, he waited until May to announce his final decision, a few weeks before the transfer window opened. However, much to the relief of Real Madrid and PSG fans, Mbappe hinted that he will not follow the same pattern this season.

As of now, Kylian Mbappe and co. are top of Ligue 1 with 40 points in 17 games. They have a 5-point lead over 2nd place Nice going into matchday 18. Mbappe leads the top scorer charts in the league, having scored 18 goals this season. Up next, PSG face 6th division club US Revel in the French Cup Round of 64. They then make the trip to Lens on the 15th of January at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
