Vinicius Jr named UNESCO Goodwill ambassador

Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr is undoubtedly a sensation on the pitch. However, his exploits beyond the confines of the beautiful game have earned him the title of being chosen as a goodwill ambassador for UNESCO. This achievement for a Brazilian footballer is second only to Pelé himself. The 23-year-old was named goodwill ambassador “for education for all” by the UN cultural agency.

The former said that Vinicius was chosen for the same, not just because he was a brilliant footballer, but also for being a committed advocate for equal opportunity through education in Brazil.

In response, the Brazilian said,

I want to be recognized as a great player, but also as a person who tried to make a difference.

The player also said that he’ll carry this achievement and duty with him for the rest of his life. Vinicius has scored 6 goals and 2 assists in 14 La Liga games this season. He also has 2 goals and as many assists in the Champions League.
