France and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe has revealed his pick for the 2023 Ballon d’Or. It is surprising as he chooses his ex-teammate Lionel Messi to win it over himself and Erling Haaland.
Mbappe revealed that he struggles with self-doubt as he might not have been his best self after his World Cup final loss. Irrespective of scoring a hattrick at the final and etching his name in history books, he missed out on winning his second World Cup trophy in a penalty shootout.
“I will be voting for Leo Messi in the Ballon d’Or poll.” He added in his clarification. He further said that Messi had been the best player in the world and deserved the prestigious award.
This revelation surprises his mentality as he humbly accepts Messi to win his eighth Ballon d’Or while he still doesn’t have one. It also showcases his competitive spirit with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, who won the treble and is another close contender.
