Paris Saint-Germain are faced with a conundrum. The Qatari owned club are tasked with, what can be arguably labelled as the most daunting task – replace Kylian Mbappe. The Parisian giants have been informed by Mbappe that he plans to pack his bags and leave at the end of the season. In spite of repeated attempts to extend, the No.10 sees his future elsewhere.
While no player can fully replace Mbappe at PSG, there are a few that come close. As per reports, PSG have identified an FC Barcelona star as his potential heir and he’s none other than Lamine Yamal. According to many, the 16-year-old boy wonder is the most promising talent to have worn a Barcà jersey since Lionel Messi himself. It came as no surprise that PSG, who are in no shortage of funds, made a move for the teenager.
However, the Blaugrana management believe that PSG’s asking price of €200 million fails to weigh up to his talent. One should understand that Barcelona let go of Neymar Jr. for a similar fee, when PSG scooped him up for €222 million!
For anyone wondering why the French club are willing to pay such a high fee for the youngster, look no further! The 16-year-old was match-winner for his side in La Liga on Saturday.
Lamine Yamal shines as Barcelona pick up unconvincing win against bottom-half side
Barcelona needed 16-year-old Lamine Yamal to pull them out of a disappointing draw against RCD Mallorca. The two sides faced of at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, as a 73rd minute screamer from Barcelona’s gem, Yamal earned them the three points. However, the three points weren’t claimed without it’s own share of drama.
From a missed penalty to multiple injuries, Barcelona looked far from their best on Saturday night. Raphinha earned a penalty for the hosts early on after being fouled inside the area in the 22nd minute. Up stepped Ilkay Gundogan, whose penalty was easily picked up by Mallorca keeper Predrag Rajkovic. As Barcelona struggled to finish their chances, up stepped the young star.
In a moment of brilliance, the Spaniard shifted the ball to his left before curling the ball into the top left corner. Following the win, Barcelona are now on 61 points. However, they are nowhere near Real Madrid, who top of being five points ahead, also have a game in hand. With Xavi Hernandez set to leave the club at the end of the season, chances are that the club legend will leave empty handed in his final year.
